I have to redesign my signature. This is very weird. I have to decide how I will probably sign my name for the rest of my life.

Ya know, I'd never given that any thought. But it would be wierd!

I've been thinking about that too, but I feel kinda weird trying to figure it out. Especially because I'm usually sitting in class and want to doodle instead of paying attention, and I know the friend I sit with will make fun of me as soon as he glances over at my paper. It's kind of terrifying though - the last time I changed my signature, I was willing to go to a signature nobody could read because I figured it wasn't permanent. But not this time...

I purposefully redesigned my signature sometime in the years since high school (I don't remember when, but it was since I got a passport in 1999). So, if your handwriting deteroriates or you just decide you don't like your signature, you can change it, just by signing things differently and then getting a new license.

I haven't decided whether I will take my husband's name when I get married. Probably depends on how much I've published by then and whether I like the way his name sounds with my first name. But my kids will definitely my husband's name (unless it starts with a "X" - "Z"), since having a last name at the end of the alphabet sucks.

If you're planning on having kids, I'd definitely suggest taking your husband's name. It gets really confusing for kids when their mommy doesn't have the same last name they do, and even now, teachers have a hard time understanding it.
